Jackson House Condominiums | San Francisco, CA
In San Francisco's Jackson Square historic district, any new building joins a setting defined by history and by the character of its neighbors. Wilson Meany set out to create a small condominium building at 350 Jackson St that would offer luxury homes while respecting that context.
The central challenge was to design in a contemporary style without breaking from the district around it. Working with the client, BDE Architecture helped detail the building in a contemporary manner and face it in brick, alluding to the area's history and allowing the new building to harmonize with its surroundings. A compact ground floor had to hold several uses at once: a 2,400 SF retail space, a residential lobby and a parking garage, each organized to support the homes above and the life of the street.
The upper levels now hold nine luxury condominium units featuring large corner windows, generous kitchens, master bedroom suites and private terraces. Residents enjoy light, space and outdoor rooms of their own, while the neighborhood gains new retail at street level and a building that reads as part of Jackson Square's story.
