Along East Bayshore Road in Redwood City, facing Bair Island, the General Plan envisions a mixed-use waterfront neighborhood that embraces the city's proximity to the San Francisco Bay. SyRES Properties is planning a horizontal mixed-use destination to help realize it: a market-rate residential community facing Bair Island and a high-end, family-oriented athletic club along East Bayshore Road.

Bringing 480 apartments to a Bay-front site calls for care on every edge. The homes will sit in two five-story buildings, Type III A over I A, each wrapping and hiding an internal five-story parking structure, for a total of 614 residential parking spaces. The design pulls back from the Bay frontage, which is under BCDC jurisdiction, to create gathering spaces and platforms for experiencing nature, with native planting throughout and opportunities to add to the restoration of the shoreline. BDE Architecture is partnering with SyRES to weave these goals together.

When complete, residents will enjoy a business center, fitness facility, club lounge, bike shop, pool, fire pits and outdoor kitchens. Pedestrian and bicycle routes will link VillaSport, the new homes, existing neighborhoods and future development along the Bay.
