Crescent Nob Hill | San Francisco, CA
Nob Hill is one of San Francisco's most recognizable neighborhoods, defined by its hotels, local businesses and the established structures that give the hilltop its character. At 875 California Street, Grosvenor Americas saw the opportunity to add a new residential building of 44 homes to this storied setting.
Building on Nob Hill comes with high expectations. A new structure had to respect its neighbors, drawing heavily on the existing buildings throughout the surrounding community, while still bringing something of its own to the streetscape. The project also set out to incorporate distinctive environmental elements that would enhance and illuminate the city around it, all within Type I B construction. The work was a collaboration between Robert A.M. Stern Architects and BDE Architecture, with BDE serving as a partner in carrying the shared vision forward for the client.
Completed in 2020, Crescent Nob Hill offers its residents homes rooted in the identity of the neighborhood. The building takes its cues from the hotels and businesses that surround it, joining the historic fabric of Nob Hill while adding light and life to the city landscape.
